So it's been more than a couple of days since I got back from San Francisco, and I have let you down in making a cyclocross (or more accurately, cyclodown) entry. But here is a photo album of my trip. Further, check out this picture. It was made with Google Earth, and is quite accurate (except for the stars).
Day 4: Up the Bruce Peninsula
Written by Martin Kess for May the 10th, 2009
Distance Today:112km Distance Altogether:297km Weather:Nice. Tail wind near evening, cold during the night.

Editor's note: Martin didn't have time to finish his rough draft, so it's being posted as is]

-15km. 7:00am.

Alarm goes off. We wake up, get our stuff together. The room is messy, but we manage to clean it decently. I run down the road to get coffee. Our gear is mostly dry.

The bike chains have some rust on them, but nothing serious. We steal a rag from the motel. We check out at 9:30am. Our goal today was to get to Tobermory, at the tip of the Bruce Peninsula.

0km. Approximately 10:00.

At the trail to the old camp ground. Ian rides off to try to find the tripod that he lost. No success. We continue to Wiarton.

  • groceries here.
  • north to Lion's Head by highway 9
  • up highway 6
  • dinner at "restaurant"
  • mother's day
  • bears

105km. 8:30pm.

At Bruce National Park. We camped beside a parking lot in the park. It's late, it's very cold. Dinner is granola bars, as usual. Geoff is worried about bears, so we string up our food in a bag. Probably a good idea. It gets dark quickly, we set up our tents and go to bed.
